My brother and i have adored Guns & Roses since we were wee little kids. There were, as i recall, 2 groups at the time - Team Nirvana and Team GNR, and while we loved Kurt, we were happily camped in the latter. We bought every video of their concerts and the band got us thru our PMR and SPM examinations. In fact we soo idolized frontman Axl Rose that we named our nephew after him....a decision i now regret cos i would have loved to name my adopted kid that!
Anyway our ultimate dream was of course to watch them live in action, but sadly they broke-up. So when i heard that Slash was gonna perform live in Malaysia, we immediately bought the tickets cos we realized that's the closest we're gonna get to seeing them in action. My cousins, who are GNR fans as well, decided to join in so there were 11 of us all together in the end which made it all the more fun cos no one knows how to rock more than my cousins! :p

I must admit that i was a bit sceptical cos i doubted they would live up to our high expectations, but i have to say they absolutely knocked it out of the park!!!!! One of the best concerts i've been to in my life! Seriously!! They were just soo tight and perfect! Granted i've never actually been to a rock concert in my life and the last concert i've been to was Michael's back in 1996, but still.....this absolutely rocked!
The idiot organisers let us in soo late so we missed the opening concert by Amy of Search but as soon as we got to our places, Slash came on stage....and i swear i almost teared! Seeing him in the flesh was just too surreal!

And from the get go, we were totally hooked! Myles Kennedy is just awesomeness...i mean there are moments when he sounds exactly like Axl Rose and his Starlight performance was simply superb!

The crowd was mostly young punks who didn't know most of their songs except Sweet Child so it was boring to be amongst them. In fact i don't even know why they were they....most were just drunk out of their minds and falling all over people....very annoying! But met a few bloggers like Visithra and Cheryl (where did u guys go to????) and Mo.
Oh and we were too far from the stage for my liking.....next time i'm definitely buying the VIP seats. Would have been totally worth it. Check out the YouTube postings of the concert...especially the Starlight performance. Below is my recording....not the best from the distance that i was at :(

woot we were actually following ur friends right up to the gates and then we lost them - we lost u guys much earlier - bumped into mo n mins later slash rocked the stage n everyone packed like sardines - beside the sardines n ladies who thought its ok to grind on other women - the concert was awesome ;p wow slash was electrifying

Hey Boobs - caught Gunners in one of their two concerts in Australia in '92 (oooh shit, that's nearly 20 years ago! That makes me real old, la). Fantastic day in the stinking heat, followed by the drenching downpour, followed by massive mud-fight (our own little Woodstock, hey?) and then the lads came out doing their cock-rock Use Your Illusion thing. But it was absolutely amazing. Best of all was one wicked long guitar solo from Slash which just kept going and going and then morphed into the theme from the Godfather. Pretty awesome. Love or hate Axl as a front man, I think it's fair to say that Slash is the real talented one. See ya

yAH we got lost..we actually just behind Mo.............i was stuck behind the screen of someone's ass for a good 3o minutes..hahah then..i got lucky..hahaha tapped someone's arm..and he looked at me..n let me pass thru in front n it was all gud from there! Was awesome!!!!!! :)

MKL ... thanks for the agreement, but I gotta step in and say that the spaghetti incident might need another visit. It's actually a pretty good effort and Guns 'n' Roses-ing some pretty awesome punk-era anthems. I reckon it did a bit to boost their cred after that whole Use Your Illusion world tour experience during which they damn nearly disappeared up their own whatsits. Anyway, that's what I think ... and I'm happy to throw what I think around, even on someone else's blog! Thanks Booby- tee hee.
Wow you saw Slash? Nice!! I remember GNR being edged out by Nirvana and grunge taking over here. But GNR is still well respected . You saw a legend.

I saw him and it was the best concert EVER. He did a show in New York some years ago. I picked up a cute redhead there too.
